I put together a bit of a kit for some spring bike overnights and tours.
---CAMP STUFF---
-Tarptent Contrail (new!)
-Mont-Bell UL SPiral Down Hugger of Doom #3 or something
-NeoAir something or other
-Bag Liner
-Cheapo REI trekking pole for the Tarptent
-Trangia Kit with the stock pot and potholder
-First Aid/Toiletries organized in zipper mesh pouch
-Collapsible mug
-Petzl Headlamp
-Wenger Swiss Army Knife
---BIKE STUFF---
-Crank Bros' Multitool of some sort with torx for my brakes
-Some sweet Paradise Garage logo'd tire levers
-Topeak Road Morph Pump
-2 Tubes
-NiteRider Lumina 650 USB rechargeable headlight.
-Planet Bike Superflash taillight.
-Cable Lock
---CLOTHING---
-Ibex Jersey
-T-Shirt
-Short sleeve cotton button up shirt
-2x Patagonia Baggies shorts with the liners cut out
-Smartwool light long sleeve baselayer top
-2x Ex-Officio boxer briefs
-Specialized RBX bibs (going to try and do without these at first as an experiment)
-3x pairs of Smartwool socks
-Gore Bike Wear rain jacket
-Fiveten Freeride shoes
-Walz cotton cap with a stripe
-Sweet Columbia fishing hat
-Rapha arm coolers because I dislike sunscreen and sunburn.
-Surly bandana
---MISC---
-iPhone
-Kindle
-Charger and cables for devices
The bike will be my El Mariachi. Rear rack with a Sackville Large Saddlesack from Rivendell, and Revelate Designs bags festooning the frame and cockpit.
With the upgrades to my gear that I've made since my GAP/Towpath trip last summer, I've seriously cut down the weight and bulkiness of my sleeping kit. Lighter tent, lighter bag, and much less bulk from both. I've got to load it up and do some riding around town to make sure I like how everything feels, but I'm thinking of heading off for an overnighter on Monday. Probably to John Bryan State Park.
